Chiropractic Wellness and Rehabilitation is a family-owned, multi-disciplinary health clinic located in Oshawa, Ontario. Oshawa and surrounding area residents in need of Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Registered Massage Therapy, Chiropody, Naturopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, Custom made Orthotics and other natural treatments, will find compassionate and skilled practitioners in our chiropractic wellness center.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I as well as my niece have been seeing Dr Will for over a decade, and continue to, first for sports injuries, work njuries, motor vehicle vehicle collision rear ended ba j and neck injuries,. Will has been able to help us maintain our physical independence, and now we see him for our regular routine maintenance. Positive experience: The clinic is very clean and the staff are polite, appointments are easy to make online and available in a quick turn around. However, I attended this clinic back in 2020 or 2021 and actually stopped going because during treatment Dr Edwards non stopped talked and most of the conversations were jokes about teachers, which he knew I was and I felt awkward the whole time. I recently returned, thinking maybe it was just in my head and I was being too sensitive to the issue; however, before treatment even began, I had to disclose I was on anti anxiety medication for post partum anxiety and his comments once again were inappropriate. Responding to my post partum anxiety with comments like “oh, so you figured out having a baby is challenging” and “kids are hard work” made me feel like he thought I was an idiot who believed having a baby was easy and when it wasn’t I needed medication to fix it. The reasons and causes of my anxiety were not discussed and he didn’t need to respond to my disclosure other then making note in my chart (I only informed him because I had to disclose any medications I was on). His comments completely disregarded the severity of my anxiety, the causes of it and made me feel like a complete idiot. The physical work he does is great, I won’t discredit that. He knows what he is doing and does a good job on helping his patients with their pain but I think he needs to consider how his comments are interpreted by his patients when the comments are about them directly.
Hello Michelle, I left two messages requesting a call back with you in an attempt to first of all apologize for offending you, and secondly, I wanted an opportunity to explain why clinically we have to address the particulars of your case. With no call back, 10 days later, unfortunately I now have to respond to this review. First of all, I would like to address the comments during a visit 3-4 years ago regarding teachers that you acknowledged were jokes. I do not recall the conversation but I do apologize. In all seriousness, I attended 8 years of post secondary education and I have had a number of good, great, and inspirational teachers assist me along the way. It is a noble profession and you cannot measure the value a great teacher adds to society. Secondly, the reason we have a comprehensive intake form is to address the patient as a whole. Mental health plays an important role in one’s overall health. If someone is suffering from a mental health condition it often impacts their physical being. It impairs their ability to follow clinical instructions for home care and often times, patient compliance is poor because of their struggles. This impacts clinical outcomes. I am a father of three and all of our kids spent time in our office as babies. As a self-employed family, we did not qualify for maternity leave. I was attempting to let you know you are not alone. Although I can’t truly understand your struggles, I can understand the challenges my wife and I faced and continue to as parents. Thank you for acknowledging the quality of treatment and my clinical skills. I still welcome an opportunity to speak, and clear the air, if you would like. There was no ill will intended. If you choose to move on without a conversation, I wish you and your family the best.

Fantastic experience: I had a massage session with Mikaela last Wednesday. It was amazing. I have been dealing with pain in my neck and shoulders. It was also the first massage of my life and she made sure I was comfortable at every step. The pain was so bad I couldn't even sleep but it was nearly completely gone with the session and fully gone within the next two days. I wanted to book more sessions however I can't as I have no time left. I highly recommend Mikaela. The booking process was also easy and the staff is very responsive.

Positive experience: I took a star off because of their intake form. In it I was asked: my sex, my gender, my pronouns and to pick from Mr,.Mrs, Ms. Etc. This amount of woke nonsense is ridiculous. That one very small amount of the population is being given this amount of catering is offensive. If you cater to the smallest common denominator- how else are you willing to bend to accommodate special interests groups? It’s just too much.
Fantastic experience: Amazing facility. You get amazed as soon as you walk in. You get a relaxing feeling right away and it's definitely a sample of how you'll get treated. The staff is very kind and pays careful attention to your concerns. From my initial visit due to my injuries the amount of attention to detail and tests ran before doing anything really put me at ease. 10/10 would recommend.

Negative experience: 2/5 Stars: Here's Why. Initially, I had a positive experience with 2 out of the 3 chiropractors at the clinic. My initial assessment and treatment were excellent, which led me to refer my husband to this clinic. I looked for treatment because I am pregnant and needed adjustments due to spinal alignment changes and ligament pain. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by a friendly and professional staff in a clean facility. These aspects earned the clinic the 2 stars. However, my experience took a downturn, leaving a sour taste in my mouth and a strong feeling of being undervalued. Here’s why I would never return: I tore my hip flexor and experienced severe 10/10 pain, making walking extremely difficult, especially while pregnant. I informed the clinic about my condition, emphasizing the need for appropriate pregnancy-safe modalities. During my appointment, I explained my hip flexor pain to Dr. Edwards, yet he proceeded with a neck adjustment. He also manually manipulated my hip and leg, providing some stretches to do at home. He assured me that he would note the suitable modality for my next appointment, which I booked for the following day with another chiropractor. On the next day, I was 10 minutes late for my appointment and called ahead to inform the clinic, accepting full responsibility. I stressed that I did not expect extra time or a rescheduling, as my pain was severe, and I desperately needed the right treatment, not just a neck adjustment or manual stretches. Initially, the receptionist said they were fully booked and couldn't extend the appointment. I reiterated multiple times that I only wanted to use the remaining 15 minutes. She called back just as I arrived in the parking lot, limping and in pain, to inform me that my appointment was canceled and I can reschedule for another day, which I did not want. The reason given was that the modality noted by Dr. Edwards was unsuitable for pregnancy. This error had not been acknowledged nor apologized for, despite my pregnancy being clearly noted in my file. The receptionist explained that the chiropractor I booked with had moved on to another client's assessment, which would take an hour, and couldn't leave to hook me up to the modality. This assessment involved a head trauma and driving accident, highlighting its importance. Feeling VERY undervalued, I expressed my frustration and pain to the receptionist, who raised her voice and stated, 'Ma'am, there's nothing else I can do,' adding that they were very busy. I found this response disrespectful. Dr. Edwards called me 20 minutes later. After reiterating the situation, he informed me they were fully booked and suggested I come another day. My dissatisfaction with the clinic stems from the lack of empathy and compassion shown by the staff. Despite accepting responsibility for being late, I only asked to use the remaining time I had booked. Dr. Edwards’ response was cold and indifferent, making me feel like just another number in the queue. The lack of care and empathy was evident, and I felt extremely undervalued as a client. To improve, the clinic should prioritize empathetic communication as no one sees a HCP if they are feeling well but because they are likely in PAIN. Additionally, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation, especially concerning special conditions like pregnancy, is important to providing appropriate and safe treatments. I will not return back because of the lack of compassion and empathy and have found a physiotherapist in the area that has helped me greatly.
Responding to a review of this nature is challenging both professionally and personally. Professionally, we are bound by confidentiality and therefore cannot discuss the particulars of the clinical events that took place. However, the treatment provided was done so following the standards of practice set by our regulatory body, in a professional manner, following evidence-based medicine, and with patient consent, and approval. During pregnancy, modalities are contraindicated when in close proximity to the uterus in order to protect the developing baby. So of course, we do not use them… the focus shifts to a hands-on approach which requires the practitioner to be physically present in the room. The typical chiropractic appointment at our clinic is 20 minutes in duration, 10 minutes of hands-on care followed by a modality for the remainder of the visit, if clinically indicated. We pride ourselves on running on time and always do our best to make sure people are seen at the scheduled appointment time. Our physiotherapists book longer, dedicated sessions, and the fee schedule reflects this allotted time. When you called the clinic to say you were going to be 10 minutes late, you still had not arrived and you were already 10 minutes late. My office manager explained that the chiropractor working had just taken a child into an assessment for a mild traumatic brain injury at their allotted appointment time and the Dr. would not be able to see you that evening because her schedule was full for the rest of her shift. After 20 minutes of attempting to politely explain our late appointment policy, which you read and agreed to when you signed your intake paper work, she disengaged from the conversation to return to her management duties at our busy office. At this point, I was contacted to pick up the conversation. I called you within 20 minutes to try to resolve/explain the situation. After roughly 10 minutes of conversation, and after offering to come in early before my shift began to assist you the following day, you still were not happy. We didn’t even charge you for the missed appointment… Personally, it is challenging to answer to the accusation of a lack of empathy or compassion. Our empathy and compassion has to shift from patient to patient, room to room all day, every day. In this particular case, Dr. Akbari’s focus became the child with a head injury, and her next 13 patients that were scheduled that day. As stated in both of the two follow up phone conversations, I am happy to see you at the clinic anytime for an appointment. If we never cross paths again, I wish you all the best.
Fantastic experience: I have been coming to the Chiropractic Wellness and Rehabilitation Clinic for years. I recently saw Dr. Riley for lower back pain. She was effective and thorough. She took the time to explain what she was doing and why, and explained the reasoning behind the apparatus she used (along with a hands-on approach). She is very calming, and highly Professional.

Fantastic experience: The clinic hours make booking appointments stress free. The kindness of the staff made the experience relaxing and welcoming. I saw Dr. Edwards to help with general upper-back pain from repetitive work and a sciatica injury from years ago. I finally felt relief from sciatic pain and have experienced fewer flare ups and was even able to stop taking medication for the pain. I highly recommend this clinic, and I look forward to using the other services they offer.

Fantastic experience: I was having terrible back pain, and Dr. Edward opened a spot on the same day to see me, I was feeling much better even after the first session. They also accepted insurance and submitted directly through them.

Fantastic experience: I had an absolutely fantastic experience with my RMT, Stephan. Stephan's expertise and skill in massage are truly exceptional. He took the time to understand my specific needs and preferences, ensuring that the massage was tailored perfectly for me. Stephan's technique was nothing short of amazing. He had a deep understanding of the body and was able to work out all of my knots and tension with precision. The pressure was just right, and I felt completely relaxed throughout the entire session. I was extremely apprehensive about my chiropractor appointment because other people cracking their back/neck makes me uncomfortable, let alone the thought of someone doing it to me! However, Mana was PHENOMENAL - she took the time to listen, works with your body so nothing is ever forced, and always talks you through the process to ensure you're at ease. After a few sessions I'm feeling immensely better, and as someone who was terrified before her first appointment, I cannot say enough good things about Mana and my chiro experience!!! I'm sure we've all heard horror stories about bad chiro experiences, but between the atmosphere, caring staff, expertise and professionalism, it's impossible to have a bad experience at Chiropractic Wellness and Rehabilitation! 11/10

Fantastic experience: Dr Akbari is a great Chiro. She knows what she is doing. I had chronic neck pain and stiffness for 4 years and after my husband insisted to get some adjustments done. All my pain and stiffness was literally gone after 4-5 sessions.

Fantastic experience: I got treatment from Dr. Akbari for an issue I had with my lower jaw. Dr. Akbari's treatment really helped and not only that she also gave recommendations for a long-term solution (which might need surgery). Highly recommend Dr. Akbari for her professionalism and knowledge.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Edwards did an amazing job of clearing up the chronic issues I was having with nerve pain in my upper back. I'd been nervous about getting treatment, but the way he explained the treatment made me feel safe and in control. The office staff was friendly and helpful with whatever I needed and made me feel welcomed. It took less time to fix the problens and heal than I expected it would, and I am back to the gym weight training!

Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend for all your chiropractic and wellness needs. The staff are phenomenal and know exactly what to do to make you feel better and know what areas to hit to hit those trouble areas. They have phenomenal hours and have evenings and weekends available. It works for those people who have the 9 to 5 and can't make it to chiropractor during the day. Easy billing and always have times available.

Fantastic experience: Dr Kristopher is very knowledgeable and professional. I’ve always had back issues and being physically active, the pain and discomfort can get in the way. Dr. Kristopher knows exactly how to alleviate the back pressure and loosen tense muscles so I can continue playing hockey and get a good nights rest.

Fantastic experience: I've went there for my back, shoulder and my carpal tunnel syndrome.... everything was thoroughly assessed and I was immediately relieved... change even after only one session.... completely cured for my back and shoulder after a few visits... Fantastic experience: Just had an hour massage with Mikala. (I’m sorry if I didn’t get the spelling right.). This massage therapist is amazing. She is thorough a professional. Welcomes all feedback during the massage so that she ensures you are benefiting the most you can. I absolutely recommend this clinic and Mikala. I love the atmosphere, the music, the incense’s they use and the personal touch from everyone in this clinic. This is a home of wellness not just a clinic.

I have been to multiple chiropractor's before but the manual therapy that doctors follow here is amazing and within 2 adjustments I felt so better and my pain was almost gone. I am still continuing my adjustments here and looking for more powerful results . Amanda at reception is amazing and very flexible in working with your appointments. Would highly recommend this to anyone who has been facing chronice back/neck/hip pain.

Fantastic experience: As someone who went in as a skeptic, I can say for certain that my mind has been changed. Pain that had lingered for months with no end in sight finally dealt with. I truly thought Chiropractic work was nonsense until now and I am very glad to admit I was wrong. This has been life changing and I plan to continue going as needed. For anyone who is hesitant or skeptical, I implore you to at least give this place a chance. I did and have never been so thankful I made that decision.

Fantastic experience: I truly can't say enough about this Clinic. Was told by another person in the field that I wasn't going to get better and they refused to treat me anymore a few years ago! I was at my wits end on what to do. Could barely walk and in constant pain using a walker or cane. Made a call to Dr. Edwards office. Within 2hrs he personally called and I was able to book an appointment for the next day without any pressure. Only 2 months later, I'm able to do so many things...walking better, less pain and more.
