Negative experience: Scam. $4000 for a physical! WHO HAS THAT KIND OF MONEY?! This is simply a scam for people who are high earners, spend their whole lives working, thus they feel stressed/tired, they don’t take care of their mental and physical health, and thus they develop a fear of poor health. The intellectual in them goes crazy with worry, so they are lured into getting a “full comprehensive assessment” and “actionable insights” so that they can satisfy their monkey minds. No real value here, just pacifying your mind.
Positive experience: Have been a Medcan client since 2005. There is huge value add & competition which is good for business since OHIP is failing most of us who fund it. If anyone needs an ER, those that arrive in a stretcher or with cops get seen, the rest just sit & wait. In 2024 my annual assessment took 10 i/o 5 hrs, & I wasn't ill. Medcan felt short-staffed & not on its game. I don't want to be rushed thru my annual & was last out @ 5:45p.Nevertheless my physician called 4 days later & I received a verbal assessment, which put my mind at ease.

Fantastic experience: One stop - in and out. I’ve been going to MeDCAN now for 13 years. I get blood work, ultrasound, physical exam, hearing test, eye exam (superficial) and results back all in one visit in contrast to 6-7 visits to achieve the same otherwise. Extremely good use of my time. Doctor goes over all results and reviews trends and markers as well as discussing long term health.

Negative experience: Sent them an email to cancel my services 10 weeks ago. Sent another one 8 weeks ago. 6 weeks ago. Followed up 3 weeks ago. Guess what? Still getting charged. I'm not sure what level of expertise is required to check and respond to emails but it seems lacking.
Positive experience: The medical care has been exceptional. A++++ The only reason this is not 5/5 is that in recent months the waiting room in Toronto has started to frel like a public system walk-in clinic with people waiting for long periods and I never used to get directed to voicemail when I called year round care which now happens regularly. I wonder if new members are being added beyond current capacity and if staffing of phone reception has been cut back. I would rather pay more each month to keep getting exceptional service.

Fantastic experience: There is no comparison between an annual physical at your family physician vs. Medcan - visit their website and take a look at the long list of health services that are included. Yes, there is a cost, but the quality and scale of testing that is done on-site (all in one visit) is super-convenient while providing considerable peace of mind. There are no bad practitioners at Medcan in my experience, but Dr. Suzanne Wong is exceptional.

Negative experience: Medcan scammed my friend – stay away. My friend paid $3,000 for a premium health exam on September 30, 2024, expecting same-day testing and results within 8 days. Instead, they were told to leave without seeing the doctor and promised a follow-up call that never came. After weeks of delays and multiple calls, the results were finally posted on October 21st—more than three weeks late—forcing my friend to cancel a flight and surgery. Despite their poor service, Medcan only offered a $350 refund. Save yourself the trouble—they don’t deliver what they promise.

Negative experience: Medcan is a scam – They don’t deliver the services they promise. I paid $3,000 on September 30, 2024, for an annual examination at Medcan, based on a referral from a member who spoke highly of their 'comprehensive testing from head to toe' that was supposed to take 5-6 hours. I took the day off work, expecting professional care, but what I experienced was incompetence and broken promises. When I arrived, I was informed that Dr. Solomon, who was scheduled to see me, was unavailable because he was 'backed up with other clients.' I was told by the front desk to leave and that Dr. Solomon would call me that evening to discuss my results. I waited until 8 PM, but no one ever called. The next day, I called Medcan and was assisted by Percy, who told me Dr. Solomon would only be available to call me the following Monday. When I asked if someone else could discuss my results due to the time-sensitive nature of my situation, I was told that only Dr. Solomon was authorized to review them. After weeks of delays and confusion, I found out my results— which should have been uploaded within 8 days—were finally posted on October 21st. By this point, I had missed a flight and canceled a surgery, all because I didn’t have the information I had paid for. Even after my results were uploaded, nobody reached out to review them. I had to escalate the issue to Isabell, a manager, who told me a nurse could now review my results—contradicting what Percy had previously said. The lack of communication, endless delays, and unprofessional behavior made me realize that Medcan is not delivering on the premium service they claim to provide. I could have gone to a walk-in clinic and gotten the same tests done for free, with results available within a week or two. When I requested a refund for this disastrous experience, the best they could offer was a $250 refund, which was later increased to $350 after further discussion. This is unacceptable for a service I never received as promised. Save your time and money—Medcan does not live up to the hype. They are more focused on collecting your money than providing the care and service they promise. Don’t get scammed like I did.

Negative experience: Today, my appointment was at 6:45am and I didn't get called in until 7:45am amongst an air of disorganization which was very concerning. I actually had to go back to the front desk to ask what was happening as no one checked in on me and why I was in the waiting room for so long. After that , the staff was good and friendly but it really lacked a sense of concierge / premium feel that I was expecting. I got the results fast which was great, but for the money I spent out of pocket, I should have felt better about my experience.

Positive experience: Dr. Van is absolutely wonderful. The only downfall to Med Can is that it is a fee for service clinic, which definitely creates a divide. They request payment upfront for services that are not covered by OHIP rather than waiting for payment on "as needed basis." Privatization at its best.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience. Highly recommend! My regular GP is very difficult to access so I decided to try Dedicated Care with Medcan. I couldn't be more pleased. Within an hour of seeing Dr. Nahirny, I had caught up on vaccinations, completed blood and urine, and received the referrals I requested. Positive experience: This was the second time I booked an appointment and was very disappointed The number of tests have gone down and while they say keep 5-6 hours free, the tests are done in 3-4 hours. The staff tries to sell products. The consultations are superficial and an eye wash. They would not even send the report to my family doctor Their lab was not functioning and my reports were not available to the doctor so there was no meaningful consultation I’ll think many times if I want to go back.

Negative experience: You are paying for nothing more than a walk in clinic with a fancy coffee machine and highly complacent, ineffective staff who have no empathy or sense of urgency. Every time I have gone in for service the medical staff and support simply send me to ER, try to sell me something or refer me to a specialist. MedCan referrals go the bottom of the list and it takes weeks or even months to hear back. Often the referral is lost and you need to follow up. They rely on fax machines. Most recently, I had a biopsy and have been filled with anxiety waiting for the results. The Hospital advised they would send the results within the week. They cannot give you the results - it has to go thru a 5 step process at MedCan. One month and four calls later I still have not received the results. I would call, they would promise to call me back and never would. I called the Hospital - they indicated that they sent the results the same day. They also indicated no one from MedCan reached out to follow up. They have now sent them 3 times. I am still waiting.

Fantastic experience: A very positive and supportive community. I am glad that I acted upon a suggestion to reach out to them after issues and concerns were not acted upon by my previous doctor. Not everything I am concerned about is huge but Dr. Sterling took me seriously and as a result we have been working on some very serious issues. So I am very thankful I was listened to and taken seriously. After living with a rare disease for 20 years which was diagnosed as a mental health disorder I feel blessed to have found Medcan. Fantastic experience: Very good company. Very efficient. Incredibly timely appointments , often within hours or the next day. Very helpful doctors. They fill a void as healthcare is rationed by family doctors and one cannot get enough appointments with a family doctor in Ontario if you are a complex patient with many needs. You have to have private care to actually get enough appointments and referrals. MedCan fills the “gap” in the poor Ontario family healthcare, underfunded model.

Negative experience: I met Dr. JOHN GOLDHAR twice, and the experience was horrendous. First of all, I was referred to him because of a diagnosis of alopecia. He checked my scalp and told me that I had AGA, scars and scalp inflammation, however, he only prescribed me medicine (blocker) without even having the new blood test results at that moment, and nothing else to stimulate the hair growth, nor hair growth stimulant or topical solution. Anyway, I followed his instructions, and after several days of taking the medicine, I started to have severe side effects, so I went to the clinic with the new blood test results (normal), and I spoke with the nurse because he was busy, then she called me back in the afternoon. Dr Goldhar told me to keep taking the medicine for more weeks. Moreover, he told me I needed to use Botox on my jaw because it looked square and "masculine" (am female), which made me feel uncomfortable and affected my self-esteem at that moment. Then he directed me to talk with the lady who is in charge of those procedures to find out the treatment is around $500-$700. At that moment, I lost trust in him, because of the rude way he told me I needed that unwanted aesthetic treatment. After 2 days of continue taking the medicine, he told me to keep taking it, the side effects continued worsening, and I started having tingling in my legs. I had to go to a walk-in clinic and explain the situation. The doctor there told me to stop taking the pills immediately and even suggested going to the ER because of the tingling in my legs. The doctor in the walk-in clinic asked me why the dermatologist did not address the scars issues because the scarring alopecia is something that should be treated ASAP. Later on, my doctor referred me to another place where they took immediately a biopsy to confirm or refute the diagnosis, and then provided me with the right treatment regarding my condition. In addition, the other dermatologist told me to use Minoxidil and other corticosteroid to treat the scalp inflammation to save time while we wait for the biopsy results. I cannot understand, how a doctor with years of experience can miss important information and minimize the medical condition. After everything, I wanted to give him a second chance to discuss the situation in a follow-up appt. Nevertheless, at that time, I spent more time with the nurse than with him. He just told me to wait for the results, do not to take the pill he prescribed me, and that is it. Our conversation lasted 1 minute without exaggeration, I was completely speechless, and I just thanked him and left the room. How can a doctor disregard the medical conditions and symptoms and also push me to keep taking a medicine that made a disbalance in my body? while later on, other doctors told me to stop the medicine immediately after mentioning the side effects. Also, as I mentioned above, how rude of him to tell me to use Botox because my face looks like that, I had never had any complaint or suggestion to treat that area which is completely normal. Unbelievable...

Negative experience: I would give 0 stars if possible. Be very careful about Medcan. I was initially very happy with the Annual Health Assessment and a referral to an internal medicine specialist in the Toronto office. This doctor seemed very thorough and caring. She felt I should be tested for a type of tumour.I had blood tests and a CT scan. A week after the CT scan, the troubling results of which I could see in the hospital's portal, I began to seek information from Medcan. Three phone calls and a number of days later a nurse called and said everything was normal but the doctor hadn't reviewed the results. I pursued this farther (remember a form of cancer was suspected). I received a form email; I emailed again. Then I got an email from a client service person saying my concerns were being sent to the Chief Medical Officer. Today I got a call from a nurse telling me everything was normal. When I asked her about details of the CT scan, it was clear she hadn't read the reports. What about the blood tests? Again she didn't know about the blood tests. Now I've received a final email from client services recommending another health assessment next year. Okay then!!

Negative experience: I was expecting service, care and compassion based on my first calls to book the appointment. They met those during my fist calls in booking the appointment. Turned out, thats where they end. It felt like speaking to someone offering you a new credit card, everything sounded good until you actually have the card and start using it only to find out what was told during the sales pich was part truth. Try any other phone extention other than the sales (booking) line and you will feel the diffrence. Try downloading your reslults, webpage not available, Try calling referral update, leave a mesages never to be returned until you speak to a manager. Foe the amount of money they take, it is probably cheaper to fly turkey or somwhere else to get the tests done. At the end thats all they do and then from there you are refered back tp the regular Health system. Its been over a month for an urgent referal with no update from them or even a phone call from anyone.

Positive experience: Used their annual assessment service. Schedule half a day and finished most of the tests and examinations there. You can ask for a pause at any time when you return to the waiting station. Served snacks and lunch. Some tests and follow up appointments are outside of OHIP and you need to pay out of your pocket. Also used their personal training service. Will be good if they are open for Sunday appointments.

Negative experience: Very misleading! If you do not upgrade to the Primary package you will only get the Walk in Clinic deal. Why not just get a family Dr if you can find one. But if you pay more, close to $4,000 a year you will get the Dr of your choice and at least a 30 min visit with more dedication and bed side manner. This happened to my Daughter who was just explained this today. She left in tears. Not knowing her father who was trying to help her was paying for the basic plan. A car dealer would treat you with more compassion. Total Snake oil!

Negative experience: Very misleading services that are designed to make you pay more for care, once you’ve started. The beginning was amazing based on service and few months into it my sessions become shorter and shorter, more spread out apportionments, less care and less support. To find out, I need to pay more to be able to talk to somebody longer and for them to follow my records. Very confusing services based on what I am paying for. Some staff are very to not sympathetic towards the care needed for each person varies. Health care system and professionals need to be more aware of how they treat people in sensitive and complex circumstances.

Fantastic experience: I can't praise this clinic enough. First, I was greeted with a smile and had a quick registration. The clinic was spotless and dirty robes and bins were constantly being collected. Short wait times in-between my ultrasounds, (I had to have 3 different types). I was very nervous, anxious and fidgety but Sierra was very gentle, calming and talked me through every step, which made me feel comfortable and at ease. Margaret also was gentle and professional. In the past I've always been stressed and I tense up at these types of intrusive and intimate tests making it difficult and very uncomfortable, but both Sierra and Margaret helped me be more relaxed. The cleanliness, efficiency, friendliness and professionalism of this clinic stands out from any other I've been to and I'm so happy that I had my tests here.

Positive experience: I had booked an annual assessment at Medcan. I found parking, getting in and getting registered straightforward. The fast they require was not enjoyable, but I understand why it's required. While there the various appointments are well organized and most exams made sense. I wished there was more customization as to which tests you pass on (I had an optometrist appointment 3 days later with my preferred optometrist and did not require a vision test, for example). The doctor himself did not rush me and took time to explain the results he had on hand (not all results are available that day, or the time of day you see your doctor). The reports posted on the website are not clear and there are too many of them (some of them repeat), making it difficult to know exactly what the results actually are. Since you only had the doctors appointment on the day of, there is noone to walk you through the rest of your results, leaving you to interpret medical jargon yourself. Overall I would give the experience 3/5. I would have given it 4, if it were an OHIP funded service, but since it is paid out of pocket, I expected a better service.

Fantastic experience: The healthcare service provided by the Medcan team is world class. From the front desk staff to all the nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, technicians, and doctors – the professionalism, care, and dedication to of this team is present during every interaction. After my comprehensive Annual Health Assessment with Dr. Lorne Greenspan in March 2023, I started the Weight Management Program with Dr. Macklin and have lost 20% of my body weight so far this year. The comprehensive program including cognitive behavioural treatment, online learning modules and support tools, dietician support, and medication, has made a significant contribution to improving my health. My dieticians, Christine, and Jackie have helped keep me on track this year by providing guidance and advice along the way, without judgment and with empathetic support. My sessions with Dr. Macklin have helped me remove the stigma of weight from my mind and develop a healthier mindset about it by developing a keen self-awareness of my physiological responses to ‘wanting’ and by implementing numerous techniques to manage it. As with anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. I am grateful for Dr. Lorne Greenspan, Dr. Macklin, Christine, and Jackie and their unconditional support of my lifelong journey with my health and well-being.
