Fantastic experience: As a physician and teacher myself, I am a good judge of health professional skills. I was provided a personable and knowledgeable physiotherapist, Kirstie Gillanders, who used active techniques and supervised (and home) exercises to result in remarkably fast recovery of function and elimination of pain. She was quite responsive to any questions posed online. Though hoping not to have to return, this is a physiotherapist to whom I would refer &/or return!

Fantastic experience: I had my first visit today and I was very impressed! From the incredibly friendly and efficient way I was treated by Cathy at the front desk to the professionalism, knowledge, compassion and thoroughness shown by Richard my PT. I was guided through an hour long initial consultation where Richard listened intently and took notes followed by a series of tests to assess my situation. I left with a clear plan of treatment and a feeling of hope for the first time in seven months that my shoulder rotator cuff partial tear and bursitis will heal! Thank you

Fantastic experience: These lovely people are not only smart and helpful like computers but also very friendly and sociable. They have their little giggle sessions with each other while treating you and that, in turn, makes you giggle and then the whole atmosphere becomes very positive and welcoming, like you’re hanging out with a group of friends. One of the physiotherapists is a staunch supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles, and you’d think that would cause friction with someone like me who’s a Cowboys fan, but he’s such a great human being that I was able to see past this significant flaw. But, seriously, this is a great place. Come for the muscle repair; stay for the yuks!

Fantastic experience: I was very nervous going in for my first appointment, but my mind was so quickly put at ease. The atmosphere is very social and casual, without compromising professionalism. I felt well taken care of throughout my months of physio, and never felt uncomfortable despite those initial fears. Really happy to recommend the experience!

Positive experience: I come here with occasional knee and chronic back pains for relief. I do the exercises I am taught on a daily basis and they work for a time. But with a chronic back problem that keeps returning, I have been returning to Ottawa Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic for about 25 years, and the different practitioners assigned always give me the tools to manage the pain.

Fantastic experience: On June 14th I hobbled into Ottawa Physiotherapy And Sport Clinics Westboro on Churchill Avenue in Ottawa. I had let double Achilles tendinitis go way to far. I walked with a weird limp ... always in pain and feeling like something was going to snap, as older people in walkers passed me on the sidewalk. (maybe a slight exaggeration). I met Registered Physiotherapist, Andre Doucette, for the first time who did a full and comprehensive assessment, sized me up on that first visit. Flexibility tests, strength tests, stretches ... and suggested we might be looking at a 3-4 month series of treatments if I wanted to go from where I was to back in the bike saddle, to perhaps even running. I sincerely regret not going to see him sooner. Not being one to want to declare victory too soon, i am ready now to officially celebrate one month after my last treatment. After 11 treatments from June 14 to the last one on August 9, with Andre's guidance, care and encouragement , I am 110%. I can't sing the praises of gratitude loud enough. Andre is a Registered Physiotherapist "extraordinaire", with a relaxing demeanor and a steady hand with acupuncture, dry needling, cupping, massage and excellent coaching on between session stretching and exercises. From the friendly and obliging front desk, to the excellent care and treatment given by Andre , OPSC - Westboro was an awesome all-around experience. I don't miss the pain, but I kinda miss them. Thanks Andre!

Fantastic experience: I went to see Sam for help with lower back pain. Ottawa Physiotherapy and Sports Clinic’s Westboro location has awesome staff — the vibes are great, and they make recovery fun. Sam provided recommendations that helped calm inflammation and exercises that built strength and flexibility without causing flare-ups. Going to physio gave me a boost in staying consistent with my movement routine. Great decision for my physical and mental health. Thanks, Sam!!

Fantastic experience: I have gone to see Richard for around 3-4 years now and it has never been anything short of amazing. He has resolved many longstanding issues with my joints (partially my fault) and helped me recover from acute injuries (definitely my fault). He is polite, respectful while also being funny and engaging. I have recommended him to several friends, and would do it again given the chance.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care!

Negative experience: I had a disappointing experience at OPTSC Westboro. They have an "open-concept" clinic so you are assessed and treated in the same room as other clients with their therapists. This means you don't have any privacy which in theory isn't wholly negative unless you want/require privacy, but it does create a very distracted and unfocused environment. During my appointment and throughout my treatment my therapist and other employees talked to each other about their personal lives, administrative items and hobbies and as a patient this doesn't make you feel very focused-on or attended-to. The clinic also had a TV playing in the treatment area and my therapist got up from our area to watch the Olympics with his colleagues during my treatment. The clinic had an unprofessional and jocular atmosphere and it felt like the quality-of-care, attention-to-treatment and focus-on-patient concerns suffered as a result of this. Overall I had a negative experience at this clinic and think the patients and therapists would benefit from a more private and professional environment with less distractions.

Fantastic experience: I have had a great experience at the Westboro Clinic. All of the staff were friendly and professional. My physiotherapist was knowledgeable, listened to why I came in and revised the exercises and treatment according to my feedback. I regained the range of motion that I had lost and reduced the pain from my injury. I will return if I am injured again.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Sam McCaw was excellent! His treatment and exercises not only helped me get back to my daily activities but helped strengthen my ankle. All the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend Sam to others.

Fantastic experience: I had a painful, unexplained injury to my right index finger that made it painful and stiff and thus hard to use. After two months of waiting for it to get better, I finally booked a physio appointment. In the very first session, Kirstie was able to make a noticeable change to the stiffness and even some improvement in the pain during use. After a series of 10 or 11 sessions with the pain reducing steadily with each session, the finger is almost fully back to normal, with pain only when I press hard, and that pain is improving weekly, so I expect to be fully cured. I am already at the point where it is totally fine and not interfering with my life as it was at the start.

Fantastic experience: Great clinic with a welcoming and fun atmosphere! I recently completed 12 weeks of physio with Kirstie Gillanders to rehab a shoulder injury that I’ve been dealing with for 8 years. She is highly knowledgable and has the ability to scale all exercises according to your level. My shoulder is now the strongest it’s ever been and I couldn’t be happier with the results we achieved. The rest of the team is fantastic as well and I highly recommended this clinic to anyone looking for Physiotherapy!

Fantastic experience: I came in not being able to move my arm/shoulder - Yannick has made these last 2 months very hopeful. I followed his instructions and it all worked out.

Negative experience: I was terribly disappointed with this place. I felt way more like I was just in a room "hanging with a bunch of bros", rather than getting any actual therapy. Their setup is like an open ward where everyone is treated in the same room. I guess this is ok for some, but I'm a little older and found the noise and other activities going on around me very distracting, and it even made it difficult to hear the therapist. The really bad thing though was that it also distracted my therapist, and I often found him looking back after seeing/hearing something else going on, and then trying to remember what we were talking about. It made my treatment very disjointed. I asked to be treated in a private room, of which they have a few. They accommodated this for a couple of appointments, and then I found myself being told to go in the ward again. All through this, I didn't feel like they had any coherent plan to treat my injury, they just seemed to be making it up as they went. My therapist several times asked me what I thought we should do. When I told him he was the therapist, he just looked at his computer for a few minutes and then gave me electric shock therapy. On my final visit before I gave up on this place, I was with the therapist in the ward, and the entire time, he and the other therapist were arguing about which music was better, "EDM or house". They were laughing and joking with each other and some of the other customers, meanwhile I was left alone several times. At one point my therapist told me to do an exercise of so many reps, which I did, and then stood there by the wall for almost ten minutes while the two therapists and a customer watched music videos on a laptop. I ended up just going to the front desk, paid for the session, and never came back. I almost gave up on physiotherapy on general after this, because I figured it's probably all like this, and after several sessions, I can't say I felt any better. But a friend of mine urged me to try another place, and not use proximity to my house as the main factor, which I did ended up doing. The place I'm now getting treated at is so much better, it's like a night and day difference. I'm finally getting actual therapy, instead of just hanging out with the bros. I'm still really sad I wasted so much time and money at this place. I do not recommend Ottawa Physiotherapy & Sport Clinic for physiotherapy.

Fantastic experience: I received physio following a fractured wrist in Jan. 2024. I found the booking system very easy to use with lots of available times. The physios are all positive, encouraging and knowledgeable. This is a busy clinic with good sense of comraderie among staff and clients. There is usually some music videos playing in the background, there is adequate equipment and the premises are clean. The appointments run on time, bike parking is available and adequate. I highly recommend them.

My PT, Yannick, knows his stuff and I can tell he is passionate about his craft. It's too bad he's a Leafs fan.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to Westboro Physio on Churchill Ave for three issues over the past 10 years. I’ve had great success with each of the physiotherapists there (most recently Sam McCaw) and highly recommend it to others.

Fantastic experience: Yannick’s service is professional, knowledgeable and dedicated. As well, he is kind and has an excellent sense of humour. From my first appointment, where Yannick did a thorough assessment, set goals and began treatment, I knew I was in good hands. He has adapted the treatment as my recovery progressed. This clinic does not rely on machines to heal injuries. Rather, the physiotherapists use manual therapy, massage and lots of exercises, which they supervise and correct on site. The energy is lively in the clinic and the team all seem to really enjoy their work.

Fantastic experience: Within my family alone, we’ve had successful treatment for two very damaged knees (pre-replacements), shoulder arthritis, broken shoulder/upper arm & broken hip in 92 yr old. The work is appropriately progressive, they don’t book more appts than needed and they’re very encouraging/ motivational. I highly recommend them for physio that will leave you feeling thankful. Fantastic experience: Thanks Yannick Beaumont-Stidwill for helping my 13 year old daughter recover from her knee injury so she could enter her gymnastics competition. You had a great plan, we did intensive physio rest and exercises and that was perfect. By the way she got 4 bronze medals.

Fantastic experience: Very good experience here with Sophie, I went in for long-time shoulder pain. She helped identify root causes and helped me with a variety of exercises to address these. Pain has greatly reduced and mobility improved. I am due to go back for more follow up sessions.

Fantastic experience: OPSC in Westboro was referred to me by a friend and I have found that my experience there has met my expectations. I find that the staff is courteous, cheerful and very knowledgeable. My treatments have been with Richard but executed mainly by Denise, a student completing a 6-week educational training session. She has been an excellent physiotherapist-in-training and although she is supervised by Richard, I would prefer to have more of the hands-on applications performed by him since he has more strength and expertise. All in all I am very happy with the services I've received and would not hesitate to recommend OPSC to my relatives and friends.

Fantastic experience: I was suffering from a chronic injury that wasn't getting better on its own, so on a friend's recommendation, I sought treatment at this clinic. So glad I did! The physiotherapist who helped me, Yannick, is a knowledgable, attentive, and skilled professional who over the course of several weeks helped me reduce and eliminate the inflammation in my wrist, regain my range of motion, and resume my everyday activities without pain. Each visit, he listened to my concerns and self-reported progress, carefully assessed my progress, applied necessary treatments, and walked me through customized exercises to do at home. It is a busy clinic, but Yannick always made sure I got the care I needed and was comfortable and at ease. Finally he is a personable individual with a great sense of humour, who loves helping people. The other staff at the clinic were also great to interact with: Richard, Cathy and Polly. Fantastic experience: I went to the clinic in 2020 and I saw Marlee for help with my pelvic floor and after several years of bouncing around from one doctor to another, she was the first person to have helped me with my problem. She was also super nice and made me feel comfortable at very session.

Merrill is very skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate and genuinely cares. She always takes the time to explain what she is doing and why and answers all of our questions. Fantastic experience: I have completed close to 30 visits for physiotherapy with Meghan since last September for mainly my knee but also my shoulder. I have made so much progress and my knee no longer bothers me (pain and stiffness) as I walk, hike, cycle, etc. I have a battery of exercises that she has given me to do on my own and I am confident that I will continue to improve as time goes by. Her approach is thoughtful, thorough and encouraging and I would highly recommend her and the Westboro clinic to anyone.

My physiotherapist Kirstie Gillanders really took her time in assessing me and provided me with all the answers I needed. I got thorough follow-ups and am feeling soooo much better than I was before coming in. She truly changed my life! Honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience.
