Very fair Rishaard, I can understand your frustration and disappointment coming into our store today. We have had a quiet summer for walk-in traffic and have been focusing more on our pre-orders, over the last few weeks we were wasting a lot of juice, so we cut down on the production for the store-front, but we can see that things have picked up and we are gearing up again for a busy fall and full fridge of juice :) We will be juicing tonight again and through out the week. Negative experience: I went here planning to get a smoothie and it just took me to a gluten free bakery that happens to sell a few Energy Shack products. It took my partner and I some time to even figure out we had to pop into the bakery to get these. I think it would be best to update this listing to Whisked - Gluten Free Bakery instead of Energy Shack Bar. So much about this including the website feels deceptive. I got an immunity boost energy shot which is good.
Hi Bella, we are sorry for your experience and the confusion. We are still a completely separate business than Whisked Gluten Free and unfortunately we cannot just merge the google accounts. When we made the changes last year we did update our google listing, description and website, but it looks like there is still some confusion surrounding our change. We are working on further updates for the google listing. Glad you enjoyed the energy shot, and we hope you can still come by to enjoy our juices and other plant-based items in the near future.
Positive experience: I was an avid supporter of Energy Shack but I was not able to visit as often as I used to. I knew they were moving but thought they would still have a store front. It is too bad they had to downsize so much! I was just at their new location and was very disappointed. I guess nutritional consultation is more the direction they are going.
HI Karen, thanks for the review, I'm glad you were able to visit us. I'm sorry you were disappointed. Unfortunately the smoothies and hot lunches were costing us more than what we could sell them at since we do everything organic and from scratch. We did keep a few of our top items like salads, salad dressings, cold-pressed juices, spreads, tabouleh, burgers, soups, tonics, granola, and have lots of bakery items all packaged for grab 'n go. We loved the time we had to offer the community the smoothies and lunches, but financially we couldn't keep it going with the recent price hikes. We appreciate your years of support. We hope you will take advantage of our free seminars and cooking classes, expos and workshops that we continue to provide for the community.
Fantastic experience: Carolyn and her team always provide a warm welcome while sharing imperative information about what’s best for our bodies and mind. Hi Ema, we are so blessed for your faithful support of the Energy Shack over the years. Thanks for taking the time to write this review and sharing your concerns. The Energy Shack is definitely going through a transition, but it is not due to my move to the "North", unfortunately the high cost of all natural, organic products has increased so drastically that making smoothies and even our lunch specials was not proving to be cost effective anymore. In fact, month over month we were actually losing money. So we had to make a drastic change. We still make the smoothies on a pre-order basis, with 24hs notice, and all the delicious, organic, plant-based, gluten-free foods on our menu are still available for grab'n-go. Soups are made fresh on the premises daily, cold-pressed organic juices and even your favourite gluten-free cookies are all still here. I'm sure you can understand it was a necessary business decision we had to make to keep the doors open to serve our faithful customers the best we can. Hope we will see you again soon. Thanks for sticking with us during this transition time. Being less busy is actually allowing us to produce even more healthy recipes and of course chat with our great customers like you :) Hope to see you soon.
Fantastic experience: Best organic, vegan shop in the city. Caroline is amazing. Every Sunday I purchase my vegan meals for the week. The maple toasted oats are made in house, no preservatives or chemicals.

Negative experience: The Timings of this store makes it frustrating it is always closed. can you guys please redo your store schedule. u are losing business. why do you close your store at 2pm it makes no sense. 3 of the days its basically closed so how are you gonna make any revenue? i love this store it needs to be open more.
Drake, we love that you love us, thanks for that. We close on Friday at 2pm and all day Saturday to observe the Sabbath. We are a Christian organization that observes the Biblical Sabbath (Friday Sunset to Saturday sunset) so we close early on Friday to get ready for Sabbath and all day Saturday. We are open Sunday 10-4pm. M-Th 8:30am-7pm. We feel like that is a good schedule, but outside of the Sabbath hours if you think we should be open earlier or later we are totally open to suggestions. Yes, nothing beats clean proteins for before or after a work-out, and we have tons of that here :) Our company observes the Sabbath (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) which is why we close on Saturday, to observe the Sabbath. Fantastic experience: Always JAM-PACKED with flavour!!!! Think freshii but a million times BETTER! usually get cold pressed juices from fridge but today, i got a warm edamame bowl as I was in a rush to grab something before heading back to work. Was i pleasantly surprised [but not surprised] by the explosion of flavours in that bowl!!!!! not cheap but worth every penny and will go back and reco a hundred times over! A small business well done!

Fantastic experience: First time trying this spot. Had a Chili Taco meal....was amazingly flavourful , alot of goodness in the box. I also got a vegan cheesecake, another hit.

Positive experience: The juice detox plans are very good. The meal/recipe plans are a waste of money. Like who eats the same meals everyday? Charging a arm & a leg for something anyone can Google on the internet. Very nice, knowledgeable lady but the $200 meal plan is a ripoff.

For $275 for the month, you get 20 different meals. I'm not sure where you saw that it's the same meal every day. Delectable really makes creative, delicious, plant- based meals, and they never repeat at all for the entire month. Negative experience: Health food store that doesn’t care about their customer’s health or safety or COVID. No employees wearing masks or face coverings whether prepping food or working the front cash. Do not support this place.

Negative experience: I’m giving this place 2 stars unfortunately I was really craving a good smoothie and I saw that this place had a 4.7 review so I thought to give it a try. So first thing was that the employees weren’t wearing masks as we are still in a pandemic and customers have to wear masks as they enter the store to protect them selves and their employees Second prices that were listed on the window and on the menu screen inside the store with items were incorrect amd I was over charged They told me that that the prices went up last month and weren’t changed How do you not notice when ending shifts that you are over charging customers for the last month or they say one month that prices have gone up?? They were nice enough to refund me the difference And last there customer service wasn’t the greatest and they didn’t mark drinks or wash there hands after every order was made I wish I could have rated this better as their drink was pretty decent They need to organize themselves better when it comes to protecting their employees and customers with proper hygiene and proper procedures when wearing masks and washing hands And also when it comes to pricing items correctly and not over charging customers Wish I had a better first experience ☹️

There are a lot of items to address in your feedback and I'm not sure this is the platform to address them all, but I'll touch on them a bit. According to the Toronto Public Health guidelines, handwashing happens when a staff changes satiations, not after making each smoothie. Our menu board is run on windows and we didn't notice this morning that the old menu board was put up instead of the new updated one with the price increase, an honest mistake, but we were really glad you caught it, thank you! All in all, we are glad you did enjoy your smoothie and there's some very positive criticism for us to build on here, thank you!
Negative experience: Walked in - employees not wearing masks. There are extremely few health conditions that would exempt you from wearing masks and it’s odd that so many of these people happen to be working in one place. There are other alternatives to covering your face or limiting the droplet contact between people, and the food you prepare, despite being less effective it’s better than nothing. This is food industry, face/hair/beard coverings are common, this is not new. This establishment could do better, period. Walked right back out after seeing this.

Positive experience: I LOVE this gem of a place and I'm so happy it exists. They serve all sorts of things made from ACTUAL GOOD QUALITY ingredients. What a rare find! But I would come inside so much more often if the staff wore masks. I often drive by and see who's working, when the staff who wear masks are working, I will come in, but when the staff who do not, I will usually go home. I have health conditions and I don't feel safe around people who don't wear masks. The few times I've decided to risk it anyways, those staff would not socially distance or talk to me behind plexiglass and there was not much fresh ventilation coming from outside. Again, I love this place and I understand people have health conditions that exempt them from wearing masks, but when it comes to food handling, it's unfortunate that customers have to feel at risk by their food-handlers (I see I'm not alone on this according to other customers). Lastly, I would just want to add a suggestion - since it seems that the owner is one of the main people who cannot wear a mask- it would be ideal if she could work remotely/virtually doing the managing and nutrition consultations then. I hope all the best for them and that they will survive this difficult time.
Anna, thanks for your honest review, and suggestions. I'm so glad you have been enjoying the plant based goodness we offer. I would never want anyone to feel at risk coming in here, so I hope you can take advantage of our curb-side pick up. Just call ahead, we will make it for you and bring it out to you, with a mask on. Wearing a mask for a few moments is not a problem, it's just an issue for long periods of time. I will also remind our staff to make sure we stay behind the plexiglass and practice good social distancing. It feels like 'home' here for a lot of us with our regular customers, and we tend to take our guard down a little, but we will definitely work on that.
Fantastic experience: I love their treats and wheatgrass shots! The coconut cashew cheesecake is a little jar of heaven, and the gluten free carob chip cookies, and carob cookie bars are so yummy!

Fantastic experience: Food is clean & healthy. Cold press juice is good couple dollars pricey but thats probably because the juice is in a glass bottle. I prefer glass than plastic so I'm ok with it

Fantastic experience: This place is a life saver I can promise you that. For the last couple of months I have had no energy, always tired, feeling dizzy And numbness in my fingers and toes. Positive experience: Juice and service was great but neither the cashier or the other customer was wearing a mask. So I am not quite sure what to think of this place.

These are trying times for sure and as comfortable as we are trying to make everyone, we have to be real with some health situations that we face which does not allow some of our staff or customers to wear masks. Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Energy Shack for a couple of months now and I love it. The environment is wonderful and everyone who works there is extremely helpful and friendly. Every meal, juice, smoothie and snacks at energy shack taste incredibly amazing! Carolyn is a very great nutritionist! I had suffer from a facial injury and with the help of Carolyn I was able to fully recover. She gave me plenty of advice while also educating me about my health. Fantastic experience: This place is great. They have just what I’m looking for. With everything being vegan and tons (if not all) being gluten free, it’s hard to go wrong. The staff are always so kind and accommodating. Haven’t used their nutrition services but if it’s anything like their front juice bar, you’re in good hands. The owner is amazing and clearly cares about her customers and staff. If you’re thinking about coming here, you won’t regret it!

Negative experience: These people need to wear masks in here none of the employees are doing it while they work. Responding to response. I understand that some ppl cant wear masks but none of your employees are. Ive seen them you cant tell me everyone of them had a condition. They look fine and healthy. Not only that but ppl are walking in without masks. We are all suppose to do our part. Malls gyms all require it you guys should too

Section 2 of the Bi Law states that if there is any valid health condition that prevents you from wearing masks, you don't have to wear one. Fantastic experience: Carolyn and the staff are amazing! I'm so happy Scarborough finally got a vegan food and juice bar. I shop here 3 times a week because I know the food is made with the best, plant-based ingredients possible, and the meals are not only tasty, they're actually healing! The nachos and the homemade maple granola oats are my favourite! And the cold salad rolls with vegan peanut sauce. Yummmmm! I read a review about it being "expensive" but in actual fact, the meals are very economical, based on the ingredients and organic quality. Remember, this place isn't the Dollar Menu at McDonalds - you're going to have to pay more than a buck to fuel your body the right way. The place is very busy at times because they're so popular, and sometimes there's a wait, but they've tried to accommodate and improve by allowing you to preorder your meals (at a discount!). A few comments made said something about the customer service which I cant understand because I've been there over a hundred times at different times of the day and they always great me with a Hello as soon as I walk inside. Maybe it was the "customers" that were having a bad day and took it out on the poor staff. I love this place to death and I hope it never goes away! My body is much better off.
