Negative experience: This gym never fails to disappoint me. I came to the gym on New Year’s Eve a little before 2pm, only to find it out it’s closed. This information was not conveyed on the app or on the website (as you can see from the screenshot below). In addition, there are multiple issues worth raising: - The attitude of some of the staff is abhorrent. It is so hard to feel pleasant going to the gym when the staff are cold and make you feel uncomfortable. - The cleanliness is 0%. I once went to the toilet and saw faeces on the seat. - the attitude of some of the gym patrons here is awful. I was threatened by someone to “go outside and fight” because he thought it’s okay to reserve gym equipment with his bag and leave for 5 minutes while other equipment was occupied. Then when the staff spoke to him he became a coward and played the race card. Nothing was done except a warning. When you try and speak with other patrons to see if an equipment is being used, they speak to you like they are better than you. This gym seems to attract all kinds of negative, ghetto, vain and pretentious people. It is very hard to feel comfortable here. There is no gym culture, no one cleans up or sanitises after themselves. Some people see the gym as their vanity project in which they can act like narcissists 24/7, this is the spot for them. I’m at my wits of how annoying this place is. Of all the gyms I have been to in Montreal, this definitely has the worst gym culture and hygiene of all places.
Negative experience: The machines are good and it's spacious. However, in terms of customer experience, it leaves much to be desired. Additionally, it seems complicated to get the right information at the counter. The gym seems much more focused on their pockets $$ than on serving their customers well. I do not recommend it at all, especially for the price.

Positive experience: The facilities have a lot of promise. Moldy shower curtains and showers, a strong bacterial smell in the dry sauna, and leaking pipes from the water fountains scream for maintenance that has been overlooked for years. The owner needs to invest in basic maintenance urgently before a health and safety check forces them to close.

Negative experience: This gym is unsanitary. Dusty ventilation clearly never cleaned, mats so dirty filled with hairs and fur, the weights are so dirty that I get black marks on my clothes when I wear white. The girls' locker room smells so bad... an odor of sweat and fish... the lockers smell terrible... It promotes health and well-being, not even able to offer a clean gym. Never any paper and soap, the sauna has not worked for more than 3 months... This gym is getting worse and worse!

Negative experience: Sunday morning, November 17. No one opens the gym for me, especially since this gym leaves a lot to be desired for several reasons. The fact that we are about 20 people waiting for the opening, which is almost always late on Sundays, or today the staff doesn't show up for work. If you choose to be a member at Nautilus, avoid the Village at all costs. The other Nautilus locations are so much better managed and the staff is top-notch compared to the one at Berri.

Positive experience: Sunday morning, 9:30am, and everyone is waiting to get in—but it’s closed. It was supposed to open at 9am. For the monthly cost, this kind of issue is frustrating. I also wish the hours were more accommodating, with earlier opening and later closing times.

Negative experience: Don't go on Sunday at opening because you'll wait! No worries about the line, the guy arrives calmly as if it wasn't his problem… it opens when it opens. The worst part is that this happens often. It's frustrating to pay for a gym membership that isn't reliable, especially when it opens too late on Sundays. Since I'm making a critique, I'll take the opportunity to mention the big ventilation problem in the men's locker room. The vents are full of dust and have been like that for several years!!!! It smells so bad.

Negative experience: The men's locker room smells terribly, it's incredible; it's hard to breathe. Probably due to insufficient ventilation and the owners are too cheap to upgrade it. The equipment is outdated. After 5 PM there are too many people and it's difficult to train, especially in the floor spaces, the green carpet, which also smells bad by the way. For the cost of the membership, I expected better than econofitness.

Negative experience: Never sign up for yearly membership ! I will never recommend Nautilus for anyone again. I was with them for two years. Had medical condition and couldn’t leave the house and couldn’t go to the gym for couple months. I called them to cancel but they said I have to be there in person to do so with doctors’ note otherwise I have to pay for rest of the remaining time on the contract. I asked them to put hold my account they said they can’t unless I come in person with doctors’ note. Being a loyal customer for two years isn’t valued by them.

Positive experience: Room is adequate despite the aging equipment, however, one of your employees should be trained in social skills. It concerns a young blonde woman working at the reception. Never a hello, a smile, and always glued to her phone. Bad energy during the appointment, which is not the case for the other employees. Thank you.

Negative experience: The place's masive but hasn't been invested in a millenia...the lift is not even working so by the time you get to the second floor you are done with, the warm up the price's just ridiculous for the services they provide & they sell you up a year membership even if you just want to try up for a month...the payback for working out stops working as soon as you tell them you want to cancel it and you end up paying over 100 dollars for a month worth even if you work out 5 or 6 times a week...the machines are primitive, raw and likely to cost you an injury, there is no gym culture so most people leave the disks on the machines, the cleaning has a lot to be desired for and the looker room and showers are just...not great. They don't do inductions...but they are willing to set you up with a personal trainer...obvs $...also they hardly speak English and if you have a problem they will call you at silly hours and leave you a message on your voice mail...in French...even if they know you don't speak it...all and all...a sad excuse of a gym at any level...no wonder is hardly ever busy...the irony is that it seems to be the best of the whole franchise.

Negative experience: I took a one-year subscription because of its proximity, but I didn't really use it. I had knee surgery (replacement) and after 5 weeks the surgeon gave me the green light to go cycling, as long as I don't fall. I brought my husband and begged the supervisor of Nautilus Berri (a young brunette) to keep an eye on me for 10 minutes in the room. She said my husband would have to pay, otherwise he couldn't supervise me. Or I have to make an appointment with a personal trainer if I want to be supervised. I replied that I don't find it normal and that I want to cancel the subscription. She responded 'smiling' that I have a one-year contract. SUPER BAD EXPERIENCE!!!

Negative experience: This gym is the most poorly maintained of the entire Nautilus Plus chain. For years, several members and I have been complaining about this situation, but nothing has ever changed. State of the showers: disgusting. The floors of the platform, the furniture at the entrance: never cleaned. The gym was clean during the pandemic because members did the cleaning themselves between each exercise.

Negative experience: Encore .. this is the third time … you arrive at the gym and it is dirty. The manager is never there, and on top of that I have a comment in my file that the receptionist can do nothing about … it’s really deplorable …. PLUS THERE IS NO PROFESSIONALISM… I wanted an appointment for a personal trainer that I had chosen and when I went to make my appointment at the reception the girl who works all morning told me it wasn’t good and that she knew a better one, but he hasn’t finished his class yet and she asked me to wait!!! That’s teamwork .. lol … my second time here, not even a response … it’s been two weeks since I sent a message and nothing … the response is only for positive comments … which is not the case!!!!!! Really dirty gym and the small equipment is not well organized … you waste time in your workout looking for them and when you find them!!!! I was a victim of harassment at the gym … it’s ridiculous that I feel intimidated to this extent in the gym. Poorly managed, poorly cleaned, and the receptionist who never knows how to answer your questions. The other day I wanted to buy a shaker and the staff didn’t know how to make the transaction and told me to take a bottle of water instead. They are not trained for the impedance test to give you the right information. I know it’s not the most expensive gym in Montreal, but it’s true that it’s far from being the best-managed gym…

Negative experience: I Went there for a one day tryout last week. This gym has a good space, equipments for all kind of fitness training but it really needs a deep cleaning everywhere. I was jumping the rope close to a window and noticed some spiderwebs/spiders and lot of dust all around the building and over the washrooms. Being clean is not difficult at all… Hope they invest on it.

Fantastic experience: Very nice room, very large, not too crowded, plenty of air to breathe and a great variety of Hammer Strength machines not to mention the sauna. Perfect for me, especially since we get cashback on our sessions. If I really had to find a flaw, it's the slight stench in the men's locker room, but it's really negligible compared to everything else!

Negative experience: Gym is alright but staff takes equipment from the common area and lock it in their private exercise area that is rarely used as is in a very busy gym. I pay good money for my membership I shouldn't have my routine disrupted because the staff are too good or too lazy to put equipment we pay for access to back in its proper spot.

Negative experience: Incredibly disappointed at the service and the lack of transparency concerning the cable machines. Many of these cable machines reflect a weight much lighter than reality. I'm talking more than 10 lbs discrepancies. They told me some were lbs, some kg, but that can't be true bc their weights feel lighter than those confirmed lbs weights at other locations. If they were kg, their weights would feel much heavier... If you get injured at another gym because of that lack of transparency, you should hold them accountable, because, I have informed them of the issue not once, not twice, but on five occasions. Again, five occasions. From receptionists to two of the managers, that is, Marc-André and another one whose name I do not know. They refuse to indicate which machines are lbs and which are kg, after I requested it, probably because they know that they're actually all in lbs and just not reflecting the correct weights. Besides that, they run out of paper towel very frequently, and multiple lockers are disgusting and covered with rust on the inside. This Nautilus Plus location puts all the other amazing locations to shame because it is the only one with these issues. All the other locations I've ever been to have kept me very happy as a client. But Nautilus Plus Berri, y'all are cancelled, bro. Only reason I ever go back, and that's rare, is bc they close the latest on weekends.

Negative experience: I do not recommend it. I went to the branch and learned that there was a free one-month trial. I thought, why not try it? I signed up. The next day, not even 24 hours later, due to personal reasons, I decided to cancel my subscription knowing that I hadn't done a session! I called, and they told me that I had to pay 1% of the annual subscription, which is $56. I find that disgraceful and dishonest!

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Super staff too. Super spacious, tons and tons of bright natural lighting (YES!) and subscriptions are extremely reasonably priced. A bit too cheap actually! Been going there for several years and gotten to know 90% of the staff and they're a great bunch. Always a joy to go here (but only during non peak hours).

Negative experience: Avoid, unless you want cancer. The smell of varnish is quite present on certain days of the month and they give you no warning. It surely exceeds health standards. Lack of ventilation. This gym is a sick gas chamber! / The chemical odour of varnish or something else definitely surpasses health guidelines and there is nothing they can do about it.

Positive experience: Great gym overall. Some pieces of equipment start to get old but they are still functional. The gym could see a hip thrust machine and a stair master added to the mix though!

Negative experience: Very dissatisfied with the service received from the manager of the Berri branch in the village. I have been paying my subscription at the counter for over 5 months and have never had a problem with the other employees. I explained to him that I had been defrauded and that I did not want to leave him my card, and he repeatedly said it takes a card. I have been with Nautilus for over 4 years. A few weeks ago, I almost fell through the floor because it had been broken by another member. Being concerned for others, I informed the counter and the employees quickly secured the area. If this is the attention you give to your members, and I have always paid for my things, I will leave as soon as possible.

Fantastic experience: Spacious gym, a lot of equipment, cardio machines, multiple bench presses, squat racks and deadlift platforms. Unless you go during rush hours you will always find the machine for your workout waiting for you. A lot of service from Nautilus Plus and there is even a sauna at this location.

Negative experience: Very bad service and very bad experience. First of all, I start with the equipment, there are almost 3 or 4 machines that do not work well and are not stable, so it is risky when it holds more weight. And the other surprise is that the app showed me the end of service (subscription) on June 29 and I called twice to make sure if I would be allowed to train on June 29 or not, and they confirmed to me that it is possible because it is included in the contract, but I was surprised when I showed up today, the man at the counter told me that I cannot train because the 29th is not included. Well, I do not recommend this place.

Positive experience: Large gym with a big section of ellipticals and several relatively new weight training machines. There is also a wide selection of free weights. Very clean and well maintained, and the staff is very welcoming.

Negative experience: By far, the worst Nautilus Plus. It's super noisy. The music played in many of the group classes and the spin class are played at discotheque volumes with the door wide open for the duration of the class, so it's next to impossible to work out peacefully/safely in much of the gym. I've brought this up several times without any results, even though the people not in the classroom at this gym often outnumber the students. The machines aren't well maintained. The leg extension machine has been squeaking for over a year. One of the rowing machines has a clicking foot pedal. The height adjustment for the pneumatic abdominal machine sticks , so it's very hard to adjust. One toilet and a sink in the ladies' room do not function. I have a chronic pain illness that affects my metabolism. I've gained over 20 lbs since my diagnosis. My pain affects the duration of my workouts. I cone to this gym as advised by my internal nedecine specialist. One of the male employees at this gun asked me if I was pregnant. Another female employee will make comments like "you're leaving already."I find it very discouraging. Not everyone who goes to the gym is in perfect health or shape, and those types of comments can hinder a person's progress and make their gym experience unpleasant. There have been closures at this gym unrelated to Covid or statutory holidays. Most times you only find out about a closure when you show up to the gym and find the door locked. It shows a lack of respect to the customers. The employees seem to work on a script...must say hello, goodbye and bonne entrainment. If you leave get past the reception without a greeting, they yell one after you as if it's obligatory. You can't leave this gym in your bubble and enjoy your workout high; it won't happen. There's also a tendency for one employee to give fake compliments to try to rope you into additional services. It's off-putting. The stretching area is often cluttered. Equipment is often strewn all over the place so it's hard to find a space to warm up or cool down. Many services have been reduced during Covid, but no incentives/refunds have been given for these losses (I.e, showers, saunas, cancelled classes). There are all the same several employees here that are approachable and warm. The curly haired gentleman with glasses and the new osteopath. There was a woman with blond hair and straight bangs who was all business, very professional. I haven't seen her in ages. She may have been a manager at one point. On a positive note, the Nautilus Plus on the Plateau is great. The Place Victoria Nautilus is the best. There are lots of places to workout. You can workout in the classrooms when classes aren't being given which is something the Nautilus on Saint André does not allow. The employees at Place Victoria have a genuine enthusiasm and warmth. The Zumba classes are fun. Toning class is great too. I wish I lived closer to that location. They have more instructors. The common areas are quiet and the level of music in the classes don't disturb the other customers. There are some machines that have screens attached so you can watch programs without craning your neck to see. The rooms are divided and this Nautilus is on two floors, so it has a lot of areas where you can workout privately if you like. It's a hard Nautilus to find with very little signage, but definitely worth the trip. The Boomerang membership($1.50 us tax reduction per workout is a big incentive to join. It's what got me. With my busy schedule, since the Nautilus on Saint Laurent closed, I have no other appealing Nautilus options in my neighbourhood, and a noisy location is not my cup of tea at the end of a busy work day.

Positive experience: Very nice space. There is a dedicated area to do functional workouts with pull up and squat racks and grass, which I particularly like. However, they are missing a couple of key pumping machines which they could easily add.

Negative experience: Nice gym in terms of space and crossfit equipment. Functional weightlifting equipment but quite outdated. Group classes are quite limited and at a beginner/intermediate level. The most unfortunate part is that this GYM promises facilities in the subscription and then removes them during the subscription without warning and still charges you about $50 for canceling, even though it no longer respects its commitments. Be careful before signing up, especially if you're unsure, to avoid being cheated.

Fantastic experience: Criticisms of the company aside, 5 stars is definitely deserved for this location. Staff have always been helpful in providing information and help, ensuring to greet you at the door and helping everyone feel welcomed. There is plenty of equipment to go around, with the several squat racks, bench presses, deadlift areas and many other machines becoming handy when it gets a bit busier than usual. The gym is also open later than most others downtown. Ladies locker room was in good condition once I visited but I cannot comment on the showers as I have never used them. The handful of group classes I took prior to the pandemic restrictions were fun and motivating.

Positive experience: Good gym. Good facilities. Very clean and generally not too busy. The gym requires you have their phone app to enter which I find rather inconvenient, there should be at least a manual option for those not carrying smartphones. Otherwise impressed.

Positive experience: Clean gym with a nice variery of equipment. They have a nice area for calisthenics, as well as a large amount of free weights / machines to use. I particularly like the Pneumatic Resistance machines, considering this is the only gym I know that has them. The membership price seems to be worthwhile if you go frequently, but may be a bit pricey if not. One downside is that there doesnt seem to be a way to sign in without the Nautilus app. A bit of an inconvenience if your phone is dead, or if you'd rather leave it at home for the day. Overall, this is a solid gym.
